Custom Intestinal Organoid Culture Service


Seattle Genova is offering custom intestinal organoid culture to our customers to accelerate their studies of organ development and tissue morphogenesis, modeling of diseases, testing drug sensitivity and toxicity and potentially form complex tissues for transplantation.

Intestinal organoids are three-dimensional (3D) in vitro tissue cultures that model the in vivo intestine. In the last decade there has been a dramatic shift in the availability of tools and model systems used to study the intestinal epithelium. Since the introduction of the mouse small intestinal organoid model in 2009, there has been an avalanche of developments in this field, including development of culture conditions for human organoids derived from primary colonic tissue, as well as from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs).

Intestinal organoid cultures are highly passageable while maintaining a remarkable level of genetic and phenotypic stability. However, it is sometimes advantageous to create a static library of organoid cultures through cryopreservation of the cultures. After the establishment of the intestinal organoids from the primary generation, at least two passages should be performed before they are suitable for freezing. We mail the successfully cultured organoids to our customers via dry ice. Intestinal organoids can be frozen at liquid nitrogen (-135°C) for 6 months, long-term storage at -80°C is not recommended.

Quality control and validation

-Seattle Genova provides mycoplasma testing of our organoid products

-Seattle Genova provides STR validation to ensure the authenticity of our organoids

-Microscopic imaging of our organoid culture will be performed to examine the morphology of our organoids

-Seattle Genova provides immunofluorescent (IF) staining of organoids with antibodies to visualize molecular markers of cellular behavior, proliferation, differentiation, cell health and identity.
