Adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) is an importantenergy currency in all living organisms. It possesses high phosphate transferpotential. ATP is involved in several biological processes such as membranetransport, muscle contraction and synthesis, and degradation of biologicalmolecules. It plays a role as an intracellular and extracellular signalingmolecule in certain cellular processes such as cell motility, organdevelopment, neurotransmission, and insulin secretion.

ATP Disodium Salt is used in the synthetic preparationof ribose-modified deoxyadenosine bisphosphate analogues as P2Y1 receptorligands. ATP is a P2 purinoceptor agonist.
